Landline callers with Talk Talk will see their monthly bills increase after the telecoms provider announced plans to increase its calling charges.
Talk Talk has announced a five per cent increase in the tariff of its fixed line rentals, which would see monthly charges being increased from £11.49 to £12.04.
Ernest Doku, communications expert at uSwitch.com, pointed out that Talk Talk was not the first fixed line service provider to raise its call costs.
He added that Talk Talk had already raised its landline charges earlier this year, suggesting that there may yet be more.
Mr Doku said: "As more people turn to mobile phones to stay in touch, home phone operators are looking for ways to maintain their income. It is more important than ever for consumers to shop around and find a home phone tariff that suits them and will keep costs down."
The changes announced by Talk Talk will be affecting monthly rentals and domestic calls made in the UK as well as international calls from October of this year.
Last month, BT announced that it would raise the cost of calls made from landlines by ten per cent which would also be applicable from October.
