Damaged phone cables leave elderly woman without landline
Tuesday, Jan 17, 2012 Filed Under :Home phone news
Damaged phone cables have left an elderly woman in Gotherington without her landline. Audrey Lloyd, who also has Alzheimer's disease, has been without her home phone, broadband or television services over the Christmas and New Year period, after water entered underground phone cables, reports the Gloucestershire Echo. BT is responsible for the lines and confessed that, while many of the faults have been cleared, there could be some issues to rectify. Due to the problems, Ms Lloyd's son Simon Lloyd has not left her side. A spokesman from the firm told the newspaper: "There was much more water damage than was first thought. It is possible that there may still be faults in the line. If there are still problems, Mr Lloyd will have to inform his service provider who can then report it." Earlier this month, BT Openreach revealed a new scheme, encouraging businesses and homes to adopt a second telephone landline. The offer is valid from April 10th to July 9th and offers a £50 incentive for every customer that orders a second line
