The landlineservices provided by British Telecoms (BT) are not as profitable as they used to be.
Recent announcements made by the telecoms giant have revealed that there has been a four per cent drop in its return from landline services.
However, the company has still declared a boost in profits. The 17 per cent increase in revenue is said to have been achieved by BT cutting jobs in order to balance its books.
BT recently announced changes to its tariff that would see landline calls becoming more expensive.
The new charges will be affective from October and will see the minimum cost of fixed lines calls being increased to 17.3 pence.
Users of fixed line services will also see their monthly rentals rising by 50p to £12.04. These changes will also be accompanied by connection charges being increased to 10.9p.
Public payphone booths also witnessed a price hike from 40p to 60p earlier this year.
