UK broadband use on the rise
Tuesday, Aug 31, 2010 Filed Under :Broadband News
The number of Brits using broadband has increased dramatically over the last four years, figures suggest.
Over 30 million adults use the internet nearly every day, according to research by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
This is nearly double the number using the internet daily in 2006, although a high proportion of UK adults have still never used the internet.
Three-quarters of British households have internet access, the data shows, while 31 per cent of internet users accessing services via their mobile phone.
Broadband offerings are also becoming increasingly niche.
Earlier this month, Demon launched a specialist broadband product targeted specifically at gamers, promising low latency and priority for gaming traffic across servers.
This new broadband package is also expected to prove a success.
Editor of broadband.co.uk Edd Dawson explained: "Gamers take their broadband connections very seriously indeed, a poor connection can be the difference between a frag and being fragged, so deals like Demons Gamer deal will be popular with hardcore gamers."
