Ikanos and Assia have aligned to demonstrate a solution for accelerating the commercial deployment of vectored networks in the broadband market.
Through their work, the two firms are developing an ecosystem for broadband package providers across the world, which can enable them to offer bandwidth-intensive services on vectored networks. The technology is set to be showcased at this year's Broadband World Forum.
Kevin Fisher, vice-president of advanced DSL technology at Ikanos, said: "Over time, the vast majority of VDSL networks will be vector enabled, and Ikanos' NodeScale Vectoring is the critical component for enabling these large, high-speed networks."
Mr Fisher noted that service providers worldwide are demanding the ability to deploy breakthrough vectoring technology in easy and cost-effective ways.
Britain's culture secretary Jeremy Hunt recently claimed that the roll-out of superfast broadband across the country is taking too long to complete.
He warned that the UK is at risk of trailing the rest of Europe unless the industry works cohesively to attain common goals.
