EU should 'harmonise' online e-commerce rules
Monday, Apr 16, 2012 Filed Under :Broadband News
The European Union (EU) should harmonise the rules that apply to businesses when it comes to e-commerce, one organisation has stated. This move should be made because the EU are keen on cross-border training, even though the rules that pertain to countries are quite different, while the technical requirements also vary, according to the European Multi-Channel and Online Trade Association (EMOTA). Susanne Czech, secretary general of EMOTA, said: "Payment methods are different and often not compatible between two countries, so there's quite a lot to do from a European perspective." Ms Czech added that, at national levels, the improvement of delivery services is key with regard to the functioning of e-commerce. In recent weeks, social media expert Kate Bussman noted that Facebook is the wrong place for companies to attempt to sell items directly to broadband customers. She advised companies to lure customers away from the social media site and towards designated retail sites.
