Derbyshire businesses to benefit from super fast broadband
Thursday, Apr 12, 2012 Filed Under :Broadband News
Super fast broadband has been made available to businesses on an industrial estate in Heanor, Derbyshire.
The improved access was unveiled earlier this week and it is expected to provide a boost to businesses which were considering leaving the area.
Harry Skidmore, chief executive of Heanor Gate firm Easibind, told the Ilkeston Advertiser: "It is fantastic news - some of the companies were really struggling here. Very large files were taking more than 24 hours to download before. Now even the biggest files we were trying to download over a whole day, take just three hours."
He went on to explain how the improved broadband access will improve the competiveness of the business, as well as its ability to take on new contracts.
Faster speeds will also benefit the rest of the county if they were to become available, according to Mid Derbyshire MP Pauline Latham.
She has called for her constituency to receive a slice of funding which was announced during the Budget.
