Homeowners in East Cleveland could soon benefit from faster broadband packages, following interest from a broadband specialist.
The not-for-profit firm NextGenus will help to ensure that better internet connections will be available, providing that a sufficient number of people sign up to benefit from the service, reports the Evening Gazette.
Prior to NextGenus' interest, Moorsholm resident Trevor Watson campaigned to improve broadband for numerous years, with backing from Moorsholm Village Community Forum.
Mr Watson told the newspaper: "The situation with broadband is dire in Moosholm and in Stanghow it is not much better."
He added that broadband speeds in the area are roughly one quarter of the minimum standard that the government is trying to enforce.
It is expected that the number of broadband subscribers across the globe will rise in the coming years, with an IHS study claiming that roughly 350 million new consumers predicted to obtain connectivity before 2015.
