BT reaches 15 million subscribers record
Thursday, Sep 02, 2010 Filed Under :Broadband News
British Telecom has set a new record by recently signing up its 15 millionth customer, which is a clear indication of the rising popularity of broadband connections in the UK.
BT Retail has performed impressively, with five million of the broadband bundle subscribers having signed up through the company.
It has been estimated that since 2002, about 5,000 new customers have been signing up with BT every day. However, this trend has significantly slowed down in recent times as the country gradually approaches a saturation limit.
Olivia Garfield, strategy director at BT said: "Broadband Britain has been a success story with widespread availability, low prices and high take-up."
Recently, Demon Internet announced that it will be launching a broadband connection specifically targeted at the gaming population.
This will be available for £21.99 per month for a 12-month contract and also comes with the assurance of a 24-hour support service.
