4G to spur spending on infrastructure
Friday, Jul 30, 2010 Filed Under :Broadband News
Broadband bundles are set to improve as investments in IT infrastructure across the world increase in 2011, according to predictions made by a leading industry expert.
The rise is set to be boosted by efforts made by service providers in various countries making breakthroughs in deploying new-age 4G networks, suggested iSuppli Corp.
Worldwide IT spending on developing better wireless infrastructure is set to rise by 6.7 per cent to $40.3 billion (more than £25 billion), in comparison to $37.8 billion (a little over £24 billion) that was spent in 2010.
Dr Jagdish Rebello, senior director and principal analyst for wireless research at iSuppli, said: "Starting in 2011, wireless carriers in industrialised countries will start to deploy 4G in order to attain faster speeds and to unclog the heavy data traffic generated by the exploding use of smart phones. This 4G-driven growth in capital spending will continue at least through 2014."
The news comes soon after Richard Patterson, spokesperson for broadband-expert.co.uk, pointed out that broadband speeds in Britain were limited by inadequate infrastructure.
